Is Your Roof Ready for Summer?
You may not think of the beginning of summer as a time for an annual roof inspection, but there are some things to be aware of that could be starting to show on your roof. First off, you want to be sure you didn’t suffer any damage during the winter. While the temperatures may not have gotten too low, you could have still had some extremes between hot and cold fluctuations. Combine this with water, and your roof could have some unexpected cracking. Of course, this could turn into a leaking roof.
Another cause for a leaking roof could have been any damage from winter storms. Ripped shingles and areas experiencing pooling or streams of rainwater are now compromised. These areas could lead to a leaking roof throughout the South Puget Sound areas, including the eastern cities of Renton, Kent, Auburn, and Bonney Lake, as well as Maple Valley and Enumclaw.
And, it would help if you also were sure your gutters are clear. Any of the winter storms could have left clogged gutters that back up water in the wrong direction and into your attic, crawl space, or between walls. This is not how you want to find out you have a leaking roof. Once the water does start entering the areas of your home, you might start to find mold, mildew, and other conditions hard to fix.
